Police Recover Cache Of Weapons At PDP Security Chief’s Residence in Kogi

Police officers from Abuja command have arrested the Chairman of security committee of Musa/Aro campaign organization, Rtd ACP Suleiman Ejeh Abutu for alleged illegal possession of firearms.

He was said to have been arrested alongside six others in Dekina local government area of Kogi state on Saturday.

Kogi state police commissioner,Hakeem Busari who confirmed the arrest said that he had no further information on the arrest other than that they were arrested by Abuja Command.

“I don’t have further details, since it was not our men from the state command that arrested them but officers from Abuja came for them” he said.

A statement from the chairman Media committee of GYB/CEDO campaign organization,Kingsley Fanwo made available to newsmen on Saturday stated that the arms and ammunitions were allegedly procured to be used to unleash terror on innocent voters during the forthcoming elections.

Items recovered from the arrested persons so far include pump action guns, AK-47 rifles and pistols.

”Rtd ACP Suleiman Ejeh Abutu and the other six suspects have so far made useful confessional statements to the police.” He noted.

Our correspondent gathered the arrests was part of efforts being put in place to rid the state of hoodlums as the November 16 governorship and Kogi West Senatorial elections draw near.

Security sources told our correspondent that more if such arrest would be carried out across the three senatorial district before the election day.

Meanwhile, the All progressive Congress, APC has said that the kidnap allegations being paddled by PDP should be disregarded.
