Lokoja LG Boss Distributes Empowerment Items To Women, Youths

The Sole Administrator, Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State, Hon. Muhammed Dan’asabe Muhammed, on Wednesday distributed empowerment items to women and youths in the council area to enable them to be self sufficient and job creators.

At about 10:00a.m, the venue of the occasion was already boisterous as hundreds of people from far and near, especially the All Progressives Congress (APC), faithful had arrived at the local government secretariat, venue of the event.

The distributed items included sewing machines, grinding machines, deep freezers, motor cycles, coolers as well cash assistance to disabled persons.

Declaring the event open, the Chairman on the occasion, Mr. Jimoh Fancy, disclosed that they had gathered at the instance of the Lokoja local government Administrator for the distribution of empowerment items.

Tiamiyu who rated the local government boss high urged the people to vote for Governor Yahaya Bello in the November 16 governorship election.

He pointed out that the APC government would continue with its cardinal principle of youth empowerment.

He said its the party’s principle to mentor and develop the talents of the youths because of their vintage position in Nation building.

“The youths must feel the change which the All Progressives Congress came with. The time for using the youths as thugs is over.

“That is why the APC-led administration is putting in place various electoral reforms to change the way politics is conducted.

“I advise everybody here to do his own part by voting Governor Yahaya Bello and his running mate, Chief Edward David Onoja in the upcoming governorship election,” he said.

While distributing the items to their beneficiaries, the Administrator, Hon. Muhammed, said he was moved to take the bold step because of the glaring compelling need to do so.

“From the onset, I have always had feeling for people. I happened to come from a very poor family background. So, I know how it feels to be poor; I know how it feels to suffer; I know what it means to be deprived. So, at every point in my life that opportunity comes, I always ensure that I use that opportunity maximally for the poor, ” he explained.

Muhammed noted that this is the second phase of his empowerment programme since he assumed office few months ago.

Two of the beneficiaries, Ustaz Rajab Yabagi from ward ‘B’ and Haruna Sulaiman from ward ‘E’ thanked the Administrator for his kind gestures. The duo got one motorcycle each.

The event was attended by traditional rulers and top government officials, party leaders and clergymen, among others
